# What are Artworks?

Once you upload your creative or ad to the CAASie platform, we refer to them as an artwork. You will be able to find them in your gallery and in the campaign that you loaded them into.

Before your artwork can play, it first needs to be reviewed in a 2-step process to make sure the design quality, size, file type and content are acceptable for your chosen board venues.

You can find the advertising policy [here](broken://pages/uhAbCEQ9045yTV1PmTpg).

**More Terminology**

* **Creative:** The visual and textual elements of a design used for advertising.
* **Artwork:** The image or video file you want displayed for advertising via CAASie.
* **Ad:** The link between your artwork and your campaign. Your artwork only becomes an ad when you use it in a campaign.

Although slightly different, all three can be used interchangeably/to refer to the same thing.

### What file types does CAASie use?

The CAASie platform accepts both still and motion files. If an artwork matches the board specifications, it will automatically be applied to all boards that can accept it.

You can see [Artwork Size Requirements](/artwork/artwork-size-requirements.md) guide for how to check which specifications you need.

If your artwork does not match the requirements, it will not apply to the board or may be rejected in the review stage of your artwork approval process.

**CAASie will accept:**

* **Still images:** JPEG or PNG, under 7MB
* **Motion Video:** MP4, under 7MB

\
The majority of publishers are happy to accept these files, but some publishers have further restrictions due to software or hardware limitations. It is important to check for any extra requirements. These will also be listed in the board specs.

If you are unsure why your artwork is not being applied to a board when you upload it, check for restrictive requirements first. This is often the problem.

### What size artwork do I need?

Each board may have a different size artwork requirement determined by the physical dimensions of the display. There is no standardised artwork size.

To make sure you have all the required sizes, it's recommended to download the list of resolutions to pass along to your designer.

Artwork dimensions that do not match the boards in your campaign will upload to your gallery, but will not attach to a board in your campaign.&#x20;

Black or white banding and letterboxing are not permitted on CAASie. Make sure your artwork is designed to the correct dimensions.&#x20;

### What is the duration of an artwork?

Duration refers to the play time of video ads. They may be specific, or they may have a min-max timeframe. CAASie will list the duration of a board in the information panel and in the artworks tab of your campaign dashboard; however, the duration is only relevant for video file formats.

A static artwork will run for the maximum timeframe determined by the publisher.

The duration of an ad play varies by publisher, format, and venue. There are no formalised durations in the industry.&#x20;

Duration does not affect the cost-per-play; this will be the same cost as long as your video meets the required specifications.

**Note:** If your video is longer than 15 seconds, some publishers require motion elements such as animation or video narrative.&#x20;

### When should I include audio?

Audio is only relevant to video file formats. The majority of publishers who accept video files do not allow audio, while some others require it.&#x20;

In your artwork tab, boards that require audio will have a yellow marker. It is safe to assume that any others do not allow audio.&#x20;

Videos with audio will be rejected on boards that do not accept them. If you are unsure, or have a mix of boards in your campaign, you may supply both with and without audio to cover both bases. For narrative stories, make sure to include subtitles or captions in your video.

### **How do I get multiple artworks on a board in CAASie?**

You can apply multiple still images to the same boards. CAASie will randomise which artwork will play to keep your artwork on rotation. In order to get the most even coverage for all creatives, it is recommended that you load no more than 3 different designs per board.

Motion video will only allow one artwork per screen.&#x20;

### **How do I add an artwork to multiple campaigns in CAASie?**

Once your artwork has been uploaded, it is stored automatically in your CAASie gallery. This allows you to choose the same artwork for new campaigns without needing to reupload your artwork.

Artwork in your CAASie gallery will retain the approval information after the review process. This means that if you load an artwork from your gallery that has already been approved by the publisher previously, your artwork will skip the artwork approval process.

Artwork that has been previously rejected by a publisher may still be loaded into a campaign; however, it will only be submitted to new publishers for review.\ <br>

### **How do I change artwork in a CAASie campaign?**

At any time, you can load new artwork into your campaign. New artwork will still need to complete the artwork approval process before it can play in your campaign.

Any existing approved artwork will continue to play as normal. If you want to replace the existing artwork, you can remove it from your campaign at any time.&#x20;

**Keep in mind:** if new artwork has not been approved when you remove old artwork, you will have no ad plays until the approval process is complete.

Many people wait until the new artwork has been approved before removing the old one to maintain presence without interruption.
