# How Spend Rate Works

### Where can I find my spend rate on CAASie?

Your spend rate can be found in the 'spend control' tab of your campaign dashboard. On the right side panel, you can find your campaign's spending statistics.

You can swap between the live spend rate and the average spend rate to track how your campaign is performing.

By default, this is automatically calculated by CAASie based on your budget/limit and the active hours of your campaign schedule.

### How can I increase my spend rate?

For an ongoing campaign (no end date), simply increase your hourly or daily budget. \
\
For a fixed duration campaign (has an end date), you can override CAASie's calculations in both the campaign creation stage and the 'spend control' tab of your campaign dashboard.

The option will be a dropdown that allows you to choose between auto, daily pacing, and hourly pacing.

You might spread your spend evenly over time, or ramp it up quickly.

* **Hourly spend rate**: how much you’re allowing CAASie to spend per hour
* **Daily spend rate**: how much you're allowing CAASie to spend per day

If you are unsure, leave the option on automatic.

### Why is my spend rate not being reached?

If your campaign is spending slower than expected, it means CAASie’s system isn’t finding enough suitable impressions to match your desired pacing.

**Common reasons include:**

* **There aren’t enough eligible plays within your filters:** Tight filters, such as limited screen types, formats, or operating hours, can reduce the pool of available plays. With fewer eligible opportunities, the system can’t deliver your target spend rate even if the budget is available.
* **Bid cap is restricting how many auctions you win:** If your bid cap is below the market average, CAASie may lose out on many bids, meaning your campaign wins fewer plays and therefore spends more slowly.
* **Limited board availability or temporary unavailability:** At times, certain screens or formats may have limited availability, either because they’re already booked by other advertisers, have high demand in competitive areas, or are temporarily offline for maintenance or content updates. If your campaign relies heavily on those boards or formats, you may see slower or reduced spend until more inventory becomes available.
* **The system is pacing spend evenly to last the full duration:** If your campaign is set to run over several days or weeks, CAASie automatically moderates the spend rate to ensure even delivery. That means the system may intentionally slow spending so that the campaign doesn’t exhaust its budget too quickly.

### Why did the spend rate go over my hourly/daily amount?

Because bidding is in real time, a small overshoot can happen when multiple plays are confirmed at nearly the same time. If auto-pacing is switched on, the system catches up and adjusts the next period’s pacing accordingly.

This effect is more noticeable when your hourly spend rate is small relative to the cost-per-play.

**Example:** If each ad play costs $5 but your hourly spend limit is only $10, just a few plays confirmed close together could push you over that limit. The smaller the budget compared to the price per play, the less flexibility the system has to smooth out spend variations, making small overages appear more pronounced.
