# Using the Map

Any board you add to your campaign will be added directly from the map.

The map is one of the most important features of CAASie, acting as a kind of shopping cart for boards.

To assist with board selection, a number of filters, features, and selection tools are available to make planning easier.

### What does the initial pop-up do on the CAASie map?

The first thing you will be presented with on the map is a window that asks you to enter the venue type and city you would like to focus the map on.

Choose a venue type, or any venue, from the dropdown to filter the boards that will be available for selection. You can change these filters at any time.

Filling in the city will drop you in the heart of your chosen city on the map as a beginning reference point. You can navigate away from it at any time.

You may skip this step if you wish. By default, the map drops you in the city you are currently in, with every venue type displayed.

### How do I move around the map on CAASie?

Navigating is very similar to Google Maps.

* scroll wheel or pinch and pull to zoom in and out,
* click and hold or tap and hold to drag the map,
* a single tap on a map pin will either narrow the focus or open cluster view

### How does the board list work on the CAASie map?

The board list is a list of boards available to choose from that are present on your current view of the map. Zooming in or out will change which boards are in the list, as will relocating the map view.

From this list, you can open the board specifications or directly add a board to the cart using the add button.

You can use the drop-down to sort the boards in a specific order, such as most available, name or boards that have already been selected in the area. Selected boards visible on the map will always stay in the list.

If you need a wider view of the map, you can hide the board list using the hide button.

### How does the search bar on the CAASie map work?

The function of the search bar is to find specific addresses on the map to navigate to.

**Example:** If you started in London, United Kingdom, and want to move the map to Paris, France, you can type the new address into the search bar to navigate to the new location.

The search bar will make suggestions based on your input. If none of the suggestions match, try adding more details, such as province, state, or country.

If you select a specific address, not just a city name, CAASie will use a red dot as an anchor point to assist in visualising the board's distance from that address.

### How do filters work on the CAASie map?

The filters are used to hide and highlight specific boards on the map and in the board list to make planning easier.

* **Keywords:** You can filter using keywords, such as a publisher name or board name.
* **Venue type:** You can add or remove venue filters to display only those board types.
* **Orientation:** You can choose to display only portrait, landscape or square formats if you already have artwork of a creative plan in mind.

Advanced filters will give you more features that may be helpful, such as:

* **Minimum Spend Boards:** Hides boards with minimum spend restrictions.
* **File Support:** Choose between static (JPEG & PNG) or video (MP4) formats.
* **Geo-Fencing:** Bulk select boards in a city area.

* **Hand Tool:** Used for navigation.

* **Edit Region:** For editing the polygon fence. (If polygon is in use)

### What do the layers do on the CAASie map?

The layers are an overlay tool to assist with picking prim locations for placements.

* **Hot Spot:** will help you pinpoint where foot traffic is the most prevalent, using a time slider to adjust for the time of day you want.
* **Traffic Overlay:** will give you an idea of how much vehicle traffic passes through a specific area based on live traffic data.

Layers are not available on the demo map.

### How do I find board information on the CAASie map?

When you select a board from the board list, a new panel will open on the right side of the map with a breakdown of the board's specs and location information.

You can read more about what this information means [here](/boards/board-information.md).

You can add a board to you cart from this panel using one of the buttons at the top or bottom of the panel.

### What is the board cart on the CAASie map?

The cart will be where you can find the list of boards selected from the map.

While closed, the cart will give you the total number of boards selected and a rough cost-per-hour guide. The guide calculates how much you should expect to spend per hour for your ad to play once every 10 minutes on all selected boards.

Clicking the chevron will open the cart, giving you access to the full list of selected boards for review. You can then remove boards from your campaign cart if you are no longer interested in them. Make sure you 'save & close' any changes you make.

You can collapse the cart again to go back to the map view.
